September ASHRAE Meeting: Mechanical Vibration and Mitigation Techniques

Hello Members and Friends of ASHRAE,

We are excited to welcome everyone back to another year of ASHRAE! Please come and join us for the September meeting with guest speaker Matthew Cotter from Mason Industries.  He will be presenting on mechanical vibrations and their effect on structures within occupied spaces. He will also cover how to mitigate vibration and some common problem / failures in the field for restraining outdoor equipment. The ASHRAE meeting and presentation will be on Tuesday, September 10th from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Presented by Matthew Cotter

Matthew Cotter graduated from SUNY Maritime College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Facilities Engineering as well as a 3rd Engineers License to operate the engine room of ocean going vessels.  He started his career at Mason Industries almost two decades ago, and spent time working as a design engineer and is currently working as a Regional Sales Manager.  He has been partners with Diversified Fluid Controls for over 30 years in the state of Florida and we will be some of the discussion points will be:

  • Mechanical Vibrations and their effects on the structure and within occupied spaces
  • How to mitigate vibratory forces from entering the building
  • Flexible Connectors and their benefits of each style
    • Stainless Steel
    • Elastomeric Flex
  • Restraining Outdoor Equipment and some common problems/failures
